Goals & Expectations
Junior
Kindergarten is a transitional year in the life of a young child. The
first several months of school are dedicated to helping children adjust
to their new surroundings and routines. We work with families to develop
independence as students transition from home to school. Activities are
developmentally appropriate and include sand, water, painting, play
dough, music, cooking, writing, drama, blocks, dramatic play, reading,
math, computers, games, and puzzles. The Junior Kindergarten program
values play as a vehicle for learning. Children love to play and it
provides them with opportunities to develop physical competence and
enjoyment of the outdoors, understand and make sense of their world,
interact with others, express and control emotions, develop their
symbolic and problem-solving abilities, and practice emerging skills.
Each grade at the Morse School also includes a Basic Academics/Services classroom for students who have moderate to severe disabilities across various domains. Students are included with their general education peers to the maximum amount possible as deemed appropriate by the IEP team.
