Morse School Vision
At the Morse School, teachers and staff members work in partnership with parents and caregivers to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment where all children - regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, disability, religion or socioeconomic status - have access to the opportunities and the academic, social, and emotional resources they need to attain their full potential and develop the skills they need to be successful, independent, and culturally-proficient members of our community and our world.
What Makes Our School Special?
Located along the Charles River in the historic Cambridgeport neighborhood, the Morse Elementary School has the welcoming feel of a small neighborhood school. We serve children from every neighborhood in Cambridge - and nearly every continent in the world (over 20 different languages are spoken by Morse School families!). Students at the Morse are encouraged to develop their academic abilities through inquiry, analysis and critical thinking. Our expanded fine arts offerings include Kodaly Music classes in grades JK-2 and Art Studio Drawing Labs for students in grades 3-5. Morning activities include Math Olympiad and the Morse Morning Singers school chorus. Our proximity to local universities and Cambridge’s biomedical and tech cluster - as well as our easy access to Boston’s cultural and historical landmarks - allow our teachers to enhance learning through partnerships and field trips.
We nurture not only our children’s curiosity and intellectual skills, but also their healthy social and emotional development. Morse School families, teachers and staff members work together to foster a sense of safety and belonging and to support students in developing a sense of civic responsibility and an appreciation for people with different origins, identities, beliefs and learning styles. Students also benefit from the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program (PBIS) and Responsive Classroom approach, which view positive engagement and respectful behavior as skills that can be taught. The “Morse Code” includes our core values: Be respectful, be responsible, be kind, and be an active learner. We function as a true community, where all adults and children are respected and appreciated.
