Goals and Expectations
In second grade, our goal is to create a learning environment where all students will achieve at a high level and grow as whole children. We strive to teach, develop, and practice thinking skills through the use of literature circles, inquiry-based mathematics, science and social studies. We aim to develop and implement curricula that support the missions of the Morse School, Cambridge Public Schools, and the Curriculum Frameworks of the city and state.
Each grade at the Morse School also includes a Basic Academics/Services classroom for students who have moderate to severe disabilities across various domains. Students are included with their general education peers to the maximum amount possible as deemed appropriate by the IEP team.
Class Activities and Special Programs
In the past, some classroom activities and special programs have included:
- Charlotte’s Web Performance
- World Book Fair Author’s Breakfast
- Possible field trips include Maynard Ecology Center, Harvard Museum of Natural History, Animal Adventures, and more!
Homework Policy
Reasonable and relevant homework will be assigned to all students. Students are responsible for these assignments.Students should also read, or be read to, 15-30 minutes each night.
