Message from Principal Leith: April 17, 2020

Dear Morse School Parents, Caregivers, and Families,

I’d like to begin this week’s newsletter by acknowledging and appreciating the incredible efforts that our students, families, and staff members have made to keep our community strong during this unprecedented time. While I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together in a relatively short period of time, I am also aware that the COVID-19 crisis has exacerbated many of the inequities that exist within our community. More than ever, we need to commit ourselves to working together to ensure that each of our families have what they need to support their children’s emotional well-being and academic growth during the school closure. 

If your family or another Morse School family you know need anything - from basic necessities to internet access - please reach out directly to me, Ms. Headley, Ms. Sullivan, or any other member of our staff so that we can help connect you to the services, supports, or information that you and your children need. Please also keep your eyes out for an online survey from Superintendent Salim, which will also provide an opportunity for families to request information and resources.

As we power down our Chromebooks and head off for the April Break, the Morse School Staff would like to share a very special video message with you and your children:

Although our teachers will not be posting new distance learning activities over the coming week, there are still many resources available on the Morse School Distance Learning Page that can help you keep your child engaged and healthy over the school break. In addition, please remember that while social distancing is a critical part of our community’s strategy for staying safe, it is also important for children to get outdoors and exercise (biking, walking, going on a neighborhood “bear hunt,” etc.).

We hope to learn more soon from Governor Baker and Education Commissioner Riley about the timeline for returning to a regular school routine. In the meantime,our teachers and staff members will be back online on April 27th with more exciting distance learning activities and opportunities for your child to engage virtually with his/her classmates and friends.
