Dear Morse School parents and caregivers,
I hope that you and your families were able to stay warm and safe during our first remote snow day yesterday. If your child had any difficulties with remote learning, please let Ms. Elaine, Ms. Headley or me know so that we can help make any future remote snow day better.
Morse Families Helping Morse Families
We know that this is a difficult time for many of our Morse School families, and we are fortunate to have many resources in our community to help. We have added a new
support page to our school website, dedicated to supporting the basic needs, social, emotional, and behavioral health of our students, families, and staff. Additionally, Ms. Elaine has been calling each Morse School family to check on how you and your children are doing. Thanks to generous donations from the
Friends of Morse and individual Morse School families, we will be distributing gift cards to families who have shared a need. If you need help with food, winter clothing, or anything else, please call Ms. Elaine at 617-349-6575 or send an email to
Ms. Sullivan.
Live Stream Reflection & Apology
Ms. Headley and I have tried to use our Wednesday morning Live Stream broadcasts to celebrate our community and highlight voices and topics that are often overlooked. We are still learning how to do this well and we don’t always get it right. This week, we featured Morse School children sharing about holiday traditions that are important to their families. While our intention was to reinforce the Morse School values of belonging and inclusivity, we acknowledge that some cultural traditions were not included. Ms. Headley and I sincerely apologize if you or your children felt left out during our Wednesday broadcast. We appreciate those who have shared this feedback, and promise that your input will push us to do a better job in the future.
Please Contribute to The “Morse Museum!”
In order to celebrate all of our children and families, we are launching our virtual “Morse Museum!” The idea, sparked by
Ms. Pennell’s and Ms. Sosa’s reading of Milo’s Museum during our 12/9 Live Stream, is to create a place where all students can display something that is special to themselves and their families. If your child would like to add something to our Morse Museum, please take a photo of a meaningful object or artifact and forward it to
Ms. Headley by email or text 617.201.7813. Please include your child's name and grade, along with a short description of why the object or artifact is so special to your child or family.
Please Complete the Family Survey
It is important to us that every Morse School family has a positive experience at our school. Please let us know how things are going by taking a moment to complete the
CPS family survey. The survey can be taken more than once, if you have more than one child.
Thank you and I wish you all the best for a wonderful winter weekend!
Sincerely,
Chad
