Dear Morse School Students and Families,
Hello from Portland, Oregon! I am attending the ESEA National Conference with our former principal, Dr. Leith and two of our educators, Gena Rosenberg, grade one teacher and Sue Avdoian, special educator. We are honored to represent Morse and come to Portland to accept our Distinguished School recognition!
Missing "R"
We are happy to announce that the "R" missing from our Morse School sign has been found! It was found buried under some leaves. Until it can be reinstalled, we want to thank the Mitchell family for improvising and providing us with a very special "R'. I have to say, I might even like it better!
Social Emotional Learning
On Monday, our staff professional development was led by Kim Huffer and Ayesha Wilson from the CPS Office of Social Emotional Learning. They shared positive feedback from their visit to the Morse School last week. They led the staff in a discussion around ways to integrate the teaching and practice of the five competencies of social emotional learning for students: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness throughout the day.
