Dear Morse School Students and Families,
It has been a wonderful (and hot) start to the school year! We had a smooth transition back with our 1st - 5th grade students on Tuesday and welcomed our Special Start, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten students back yesterday. We have a full house and are enjoying being back together again.
Meet the Main Office Team
I want to thank the Morse Main Office team for a successful launch to the school year. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by such a strong team and we hope you reach out and let us know if there is anything you need. Morse School Council
We are looking for parent/caregiver representatives on the Morse School Council. The School Council is a leadership group of parents and caregivers, teachers and staff, community members who meet with me each month to work towards school improvement. We are currently looking to fill 2 seats and are eager to identify candidates who represent the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our school community. Being a Morse School parent is the only qualification you need to be a candidate for the School Council! This year the city is also offering a $500 stipend for representatives. The council will meet on the third Thursday of each month (with the exception of a couple dates) from 6-7:30PM on the following dates: 10/19, 11/16, /12/7, 1/18, 2/15, 3/21, 4/11, 5/16, 6/13. If you are interested in running for a seat, please send Family Liaison Amy Diaz ([email protected]) an email with the following information:
Your name and the grade level(s) of your child(ren);
- Why you are interested in joining the School Council
- Voting will take place through paper ballot at the September 28th Curriculum Night/Open House (each Morse School parent/guardian is eligible to vote).
Listening Conferences
It is our goal for every family to have the opportunity to participate in listening conferences, where you, your child and your child's teacher check-in for 20 minutes to meet each other, hear about your needs, hopes, goals & dreams for the upcoming school year. Listening Conferences are scheduled between September 11th - October 6th. Please look out for an invitation from your child's teacher.
Friends of the Morse
The Friends of Morse School (FMS) is a parent-led organization dedicated to supporting our students, teachers, staff, and community. Last week, FMS parent volunteers helped organize a “welcome back” breakfast for staff! You can visit the FMS website to learn more about the group and upcoming events!
