Dear Morse School Parents and Caregivers,
It was wonderful to see so many Morse School families at the
Cambridge Community Iftar on Wednesday! As a lifelong Cambridge resident, CPS parent, and principal, I feel great pride in the traditions we have established as a community to acknowledge and celebrate our city’s rich diversity. At the Morse School, we continue to highlight those everyday words and actions that make our school a welcoming and inclusive place for
all children, families, and staff members, regardless of cultural background, faith, race, ethnicity, learning style, identity, or gender. Thank you for reinforcing these important values at home!
A Busy Month Ahead!
April will be a busy month at the Morse School. Here are some events to put on your calendar:
5th Grade Parent Meeting - We invite our 5th grade parents to join us on Monday April 3rd from 3:30 - 4:30PM for a conversation about ways we can support our 5th graders social and emotional development as they prepare to transition to middle school. We will also talk about upcoming end-of-year events. The Zoom link has been shared with all 5th grade families.
There will be
no school on
Friday, April 7th, due to the Good Friday holiday.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held during the week of April 10th. These 20-minute meetings will allow you and your child’s homeroom teacher to discuss your child’s progress and things that can be done at school and at home to help your child make steady and positive growth during the three remaining months of the school year. Please keep an eye out for a sign up sheet from your child’s teacher.
MCAS begins for
3rd graders on
Wednesday, April 12th.
4th and 5th graders will have their first MCAS assessment on
Tuesday, April 25th. For more information about this year’s MCAS administration, including information about things you can do to support your child, please

April Vacation begins on
Saturday, April 15th and lasts through
Sunday, April 23rd.
The CPS
5th grade dance showcase will take place on
Tuesday, April 25th.
Our
Math & Literacy Carnival is scheduled to take place on the evening of
Thursday, April 27th! We will have more information about this very special community event in your child’s backpack next week!
With Family Liaison Amy Diaz out on maternity leave, we are a step behind in preparing a proper April calendar for you. We will have one to you early next week! In the meantime, I wish you and your family all the best for a wonderful and restful weekend.
Sincerely,
Principal Chad Leith
