Message from Chad Leith: September 2, 2022

Dear Morse School Students and Families,

It has been a busy week as Morse School staff members came together to prepare for the new school year. We have an extraordinary team and can’t wait to welcome you next week!

Staff

Student & Family Handbook
Before coming to school next week, we ask that all Morse School parents and caregivers carefully review the 2022-2023 Morse Student & Family Handbook. It provides an overview of:

  • Arrival and dismissal procedures (including drop-off and pick up times and locations)
  • Bus transportation
  • Meals, snacks, and recess
  • Protocols for keeping children and adults safe
  • Ways that parents and caregivers can get involved

The Morse School Guidelines for Success
On the first day of school our students will begin talking about the things that they can do to help make our school a fun, safe, and supportive place for everyone. Please take a moment to review our Morse School Guidelines for Success (also known as the “Morse Code”), to help your child begin thinking about our school’s core values. Feel free to ask your child what our core values look and sound like at home and at the places they spend time outside of school!

Spotlight on the Friends of Morse School
The Friends of Morse School (FMS) is a parent-led organization dedicated to supporting our students, teachers, staff, and community. Last week, FMS parent volunteers helped organize a playground meetup for new JK/K families and a “welcome back” breakfast for staff! You can visit the FMS website to learn more about the group and about upcoming events!

COVID Self-Test Reminder
Finally, a reminder to please use the COVID self-test kit that you received in the mail from the Cambridge Public Schools to test your child before they come to school next week. If your child tests positive, please keep them at home and let us know. For more information on the most current CPS COVID policies and procedures, please click here.

On behalf of the teachers and staff of the Morse School, I wish you all the best for a wonderful Labor Day weekend. We can’t wait to welcome you back next week!

Sincerely,

Dr. Chad Leith
Principal
