Apple cider pressing with our buddies!

By Rediet S., Grade 4 Student
Step 1
Apple cider pressing is always wonderful. This year it was special because we were doing it with our buddies. The first station was washing the apples. We carefully handed our buddies 1 apple so they could wash it. The second station was cutting the apples. Most of our buddies needed help holding the knife, and cutting the apple. We cut them small enough that we could grind them. The third station was grinding, and scooping. Our buddies needed help turning the wheel because it got harder and harder. We ground the apples so we could press it. We scooped out the apples that were done being ground and took them to the pressing station. Last but not least we pressed the apples. Our teacher put blocks on top so the blocks could squish out the apple cider. Our final step was we got to taste the cider! It tasted like fresh apples, a little bit sweet and a little bit tart. Apple cider pressing with our buddies was an amazing experience. It was our buddies first time making apple cider. They had a lot of fun. It was fun because we were with our buddies and we were helping them out.
