Message from Principal Chad Leith: April 5, 2019

Dear Members of the Morse School Community,

As the weather has gotten warmer, we have enjoyed seeing the members of our community take advantage of our new outdoor play spaces. However, we have recently noticed our outer doors are often being propped open. Propping open doors at any time during school hours or after school poses a security risk to our children. Morse School staff have key cards that allow them to access the building from multiple entry points. We ask that all members of our community allow our doors to properly close once you have exited the school. Thank you!

Farewell Ms. Caputo, Welcome Back Ms. Kerr!
On Monday, our art teacher Amiee Kerr will return from her maternity leave. We look forward to having her back! Ms. Kerr’s return means that today will be our last day with Lindsay Caputo, who has done a wonderful job as our long-term substitute art teacher. Please join me in thanking Ms. Caputo for her service to our children and wishing her well in her future endeavors!

Good Luck Ms. Sullivan!
Today will also be our family liaison Denise Sullivan’s last day before heading out on a leave. As she has mentioned to many members of the community, Ms. Sullivan will be undergoing hip replacement surgery. We wish her a successful procedure and a speedy recovery, and look forward to welcoming Ms. Sullivan back when we return to school in September. In the meantime, she can still be reached through her regular e-mail address: [email protected]

First Annual Morse Marathon - May 3rd
On behalf of the Friends of Morse, I am very excited to announce the first annual Morse Marathon, a school-wide fun run/walk (a 1.5 km loop from the school to Magazine Beach) on May 3rd from 9:00-10:30am. This event is aimed at promoting fitness and community. It will also raise funds to replace damaged P.E. equipment and support enriching learning experiences for our students. Please consider sponsoring your Morse student runner! More information will be sent home in your child’s backpack. You can also visit the Friends of Morse website

New Date for Digital Literacy Workshop - May 1st
The Digital Literacy Workshop originally planned for next Wednesday, April 10th, has been rescheduled to Wednesday May 1st, due to a conflict with a Morse Community School event. As mentioned in previous messages, the workshop is aimed at providing Morse School parents and caregivers with tips, tricks, and resources for troubleshooting some common questions and concerns about our children and their use of social media, cell phones, and other digital tools such as TV, internet, and video games. Pizza and childcare will be provided. If you are interested in participating, please RSVP by following this link or by reaching out to the Morse School Tech Specialist Jen Lavalle ([email protected]).

Finally, to our many Morse School Cambridge Youth Soccer players, my very best wishes for a great first game of the season!

Sincerely,

Chad Leith
