new staffName: Stephanie Brennan

Birthday: April 23rd

Education: Grew up in Massachusetts and then went to undergraduate college in Mississippi at Ole Miss because I wanted to live in the South. Then, came back to Boston for grad school at UMass Boston

Pets: I love animals and grew up with dogs my whole life, but currently do not have any animals myself so I dog sit as a part time job to be able to spend time with animals

Hobbies: I love Pilates and trying new exercise classes

Best habit:
Making my bed every morning (even on vacation)

Worst habit: Eating too much chocolate

Most memorable day: Going fishing for my first time

Favorite restaurant: Anyplace with pasta

Name: Cynthia Ferguson Wheeler, but everyone calls me Fergie

Birthday: April Fools Day (no joke)

Education: Elementary, Middle, and High School: Fayetteville Manlius Public Schools (Manlius, NY); College: Skidmore College, BSW (Saratoga Springs, New York); Masters: Boston University, MSW (Boston, MA)

Family: I come from a very large family. My mother is one of ten children and my father is one of five children. Needless to say, I have numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, etc. I am the fifth of seven children and have four older sisters and two younger brothers. I don’t have any of my own kids, but have four nieces that I love to spoil. We live all over the country, but manage to get together at least once a year.

Hobbies: When I’m not at work, I spend a lot of time with family and friends. I love to cook, bake, and eat! I also enjoy boxing as my form of exercise.

Best habit: I’m a neat freak.

Worst habit: I’m a neat freak.

Most harrowing day: I’m a pretty even keeled person, so I don’t tend to think, feel, or act in the extremes. Given that, I can’t think of a day I would peg as most harrowing.

Most memorable day: I’m lucky to remember what I ate for breakfast this morning much less remember a whole day.

Currently reading: Quiet Power by Susan Cain. It’s a young adult book about the importance of introverts in our society based on the research she presented in the adult version, Quiet. I’m also reading Theft by Finding by David Sedaris.

Favorite book as a child: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. I loved that Alexander always wanted to go to Australia to escape his bad days. It actually led me to live in Australia for a year…although I wasn’t trying to escape anything.

Favorite book as an adult: Any cookbook. I read cookbooks like novels and don’t ever open them when I’m actually cooking.

Favorite music: Anything I can sing and/or dance to (in the privacy of my own home).

Favorite restaurant: It’s so hard for me to choose! There are so many amazing restaurants in the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area. I’m just as psyched to eat a burrito from Anna’s as I am to eat tapas at Toro.

Favorite teacher: I was a student who didn’t really like school until I found a teacher who seemed to truly understand my learning style and interests. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet Pat Oles until I got to college. Fortunately, he helped me to choose my career path where I can support students so that they might like school more than I did!

Message to the Morse Community: As a committed member of the Cambridge Public Schools, I am thrilled to be able to call the Morse my new “work home”. I have been welcomed by students, staff, and families with open arms and am truly grateful to have this opportunity to help foster the social, emotional, and academic learning of all Morse students.
