Message from Samantha Headley | November 9, 2023

Dear Morse School Students and Families,

We've had a wonderful week of learning despite our students only being in the building three days! Reminder there is no school tomorrow in honor of Veterans Day. We wish all of the families who celebrate Diwali a Happy Festival of Light.

Family Survey
The district will be launching a family school climate survey on November 27th. The survey will be anonymous and translated in five different languages. You will only need to fill out one even if you have multiple children in the school. Students in grades 3-5 and all staff will also complete this school climate survey. Please complete this survey as it gives us valuable feedback. More information will be shared very soon!

Brrrr!
Cold ChildThe weather has gotten colder and we want to remind you to send your children in with warm weather gear. If you are in need of hats, gloves, winter coats, boots, etc., please notify our Family Liaison, Amy Diaz.

Attendance & Tardiness
As part of our School Improvement Plan, we are working to improve student attendance at Morse. Regular and consistent attendance for our JK - 5 students is essential to learning, to improving the achievement of all students, to maintaining a respectful school climate and to a student’s successful school performance. Tardiness refers to a student who arrives at school after the second bell at 8:25AM. Tardiness affects a student's academic performance and social emotional development. Students who arrive late miss important organizational and instructional time. A late student requires a teacher to interrupt instruction to other students in order to assimilate the late student into class. Any student who arrives after the 8:25AM bell is required to check-in at the main office to receive a late slip before heading to class. As part of our efforts to reduce absenteeism and tardiness, we will be sending an email to families for every five absences or tardies your child has. If you need support in getting your child to school on time, please contact our Family Liaison, Ms. Diaz, at 617.349.6679.

Grades 4 & 5 After School Clubs
Today the first session of our after school clubs will end and we will begin the next round on November 21st. If you are interested in signing your child up for an after school club, please submit your preference via this form by Monday, November 13th. This round we only have three options. Please rank your choices and we will do our best to accommodate. Students can only be in one club for the duration of the session. The second session of clubs runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 - 4PM from November 21st through December 14th. We will offer snacks and there will be a late bus available for students who live one mile or more from the Morse.
