Dear Morse School Students and Families,
Happy International Women's Day! It's been another awesome week at the Morse! With elections on Tuesday, our teachers and administrators participated in professional development and our students enjoyed a break from school.
Cricket
On Tuesday, students from Morse were invited to showcase what they have learned about cricket to the CPS Physical Education Department. On their day off, these students enthusiastically demonstrated the sport and spoke about their experiences. We were so proud of our students and PE team for sharing the importance of diversifying the sports we are teaching our students about so that they feel represented.
Read Across America
We've had a wonderful week focusing on literacy for Read Across America Week. On Monday morning, all staff and students dropped everything and read (DEAR) while wearing our comfy, cozy clothes. I enjoyed joining the fifth graders in room E5 for this special moment. In addition, we had a successful book swap Wednesday and Thursday. Thank you to our literacy team for organizing!
Importance of Sleep
As we get ready for daylight savings, we want to remind families to set your clocks ahead an hour on Sunday, March 10th (Saturday night / Sunday morning). Sleep is important for students to have successful days at school. You may need to allocate more time in the mornings and evenings as everyone adjusts to the time change.
Drum Call
"Amazing experience and so much fun!" Students, families, and staff are still talking about Saturday's Drum Call workshop. We had a wonderful turnout of staff and families who learned a Malian dance.
