Lions and Reptiles and Bears! Oh, My!
During
the winter and spring, students in JK and Kindergarten and Grade One,
participated in a variety of events. These extra-curricular activities
were available to our young students due to the generosity of Friends of
the Morse School.
In January, Maggie Whalen visited the Morse
Auditorium and gave a puppet performance of “Goldilocks and the Three
Bears”. This table top show earned an enthusiastic round of applause
from all the children. Ms. Bellino, shared, “The show was
wonderful! One of my students spent free play drawing, cutting, and
pasting together the characters. Then she put on a puppet show of her
own!”
During
the month of March, Rainforest Reptiles visited the Morse School.
Children learned about lizards, alligators, snakes, and other reptiles.
Our Herpetologist, Kevin, had the assistance of some Morse students in
holding the reptiles. We all appreciated his knowledge and humor.
In
April, we visited the Franklin Park Zoo. The cost of this annual bus
trip was greatly reduced by the FoMs funds. Children walked through the
zoo observing a variety of animals. The gorillas played, the kangaroos
jumped, the lion roared and then he went to sleep!
Finally, we
look forward to a visit from a Petting Farm in June. On behalf of the
children, the staff thanks the Friends of Morse School.
