Dear members of the Morse School community,
With the school year now having officially come to an end, I want to thank you once again for a wonderful five years together. Before joining the Morse School, I had never worked alongside a team of staff members, parents, and caregivers who were so committed to rolling up their sleeves and finding solutions to the persistent challenges that are inherent to public education. Whether figuring out how to bring a struggling reader up to grade level, working to build awareness around the effects of racial bias, or planning a community event to bring our families together, we have accomplished so much through our willingness to collaborate and lift up our school community.
All of this has led to a unique leadership experience for me. I have found something joyful to celebrate each day that I have worked at the Morse School. Even the challenging moments that inevitably make up the life of a school community have taught me important lessons. And so it is no surprise that I will leave the Morse School feeling as though I have gained much more - as an educator and as a human being - than I have given. Serving as your Principal has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and for this I am profoundly grateful to you.
Saying goodbye is hard, but it is much less difficult than it would have been had Sam Headley not been selected to serve as your next Principal. I am confident that she and Kristin Allison - in collaboration with this outstanding team of teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists - will be thoughtful stewards of this unique school community. For my part, I will continue to be one of the Morse School’s biggest cheerleaders.
