Message from Principal Samantha Headley: October 13, 2023

Dear Morse School Students and Families,

It's been another wonderful, yet short week at the Morse School! In addition to Hispanic Heritage Month, it is also Filipino Heritage Month and Bullying Prevention Month. During our weekly community live stream event this morning, we shared a presentation with grades 3-5 on what bullying is and what students can do when they see or feel it happening. For our students in grades JK-2, we will share a live stream presentation on "healthy friendships" on October 27th. Please ask your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade child about what they learned today. If you would like to learn more about our district's Bullying Policy as well as how to report bullying, please visit the CPS website.

Morse School Council (Virtual) Meeting

The Morse School Council is a legally-required representative group of parents and teachers who play an important role in shaping the policies and programs of the school. At our first meeting, Thursday, October 19th, the School Council will provide input into the development of our School Improvement Plan steps that we are taking to close academic, social, and emotional learning gaps. If you are interested in attending the meeting, please register here.

Morse Marathon

This year’s Morse Marathon will take place on Tuesday, October 24th! For those new to our school, the Morse Marathon is an annual school-wide fun run/walk that takes place at beautiful Magazine Beach Park. The event is aimed at promoting fitness and community. It also helps to raise funds for the Friends of Morse, a parent-led organization that supports enriching learning experiences for our students, along with other important volunteer contributions to our school. To volunteer or sponsor your student athlete, please visit the FMS page.

Taking Care of Our Community

Ms. Allison and I realize it has been a difficult week for many members of the Morse Community. Please read Dr. Greer's most recent message and don't hesitate to reach out to us if you or your child need any support.
