Literacy + Math = MESS
Posted on 12/13/2016
Hello Morse Families,
You spoke and the Morse School has listened! This Tuesday we’ll be holding both a morning and an evening session of this year’s first Morse School family workshop. We know you’ve been looking for ways to help your children at home with the reading and writing skills they need in order to be successful at school. That’s why we’re so excited to see you this coming Tuesday, December 13th in the Morse School Library, where we’ll show you step-by-step how to help your children really make sense of math word problems. You’ll also learn about the “MESS” model your children use to answer word problems and show their thinking when they’re here at school.
This year, for the first time, we’ll be holding TWO workshop sessions in order to accommodate all of the families who are so excited to come and learn these valuable strategies. The first session will take place on Tuesday, December 13th from 8:30 - 9:30AM in the morning. The second session will take place later the same day from 6 - 7PM in the evening. Childcare will be provided for the evening presentation. We’ll be offering light refreshments and a door prize at both times. The two sessions will cover the same material, so come to the one that works best for you! See you Tuesday!
