Kindergarten B7 & D6 participated in this collaborative Project bringing the photographic fantasy of Carl R. Sams and Jean Stoick to the Morse School Stage. They worked with Aimee Kerr in the Art Studio to integrate the visual art through several projects related to this winter story: snowflake line paintings, enlarged observational drawings and paintings of evergreen branches, papier mache sculpture of a snowman and observational drawings of woodland animals: to create costume hats. These classes also collaborated with Kelly Graeber in their Kodaly Music program, who created a beautiful scarf dance performed to the tune of Remember the Snowman.

Students in room B7 collaborated with the Dance In the Schools visiting artist Kate Bresee, while students in room D6 worked with Harvard intern Maggie Babb to research the animals in the story by visiting the library and using The students used graphic organizers to show their findings. For example: Squirrels are: Rodents; Squirrels have: fur; Squirrels can: climb.

Literacy skills related to drawing details, writing, research, storytelling, and identifying characters, setting, plot, and theme were integrated as well and were evidenced on display boards showcasing the students' efforts.

The timely addition of actual snowfall earlier in the week gave a wintery context to the performance. The kids all did a wonderful job sharing their talents and their lines on the stage, which was a glittery showcase of the magic of the winter season.
