On Thursday, December 22, 2016, the Morse School came together as a community to celebrate the core virtue of Charity. Charity is defined as caring and working to be kind as well as selfless giving to those in need. Each class chose their own unique way of giving back to the community in charitable ways, or had different ways of to share their learning about "charity".
Here are a few examples: The junior kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade Room A1 recited a poem about Charity; some of the 1st graders wrote letters and cards to a senior home, while others collected spare coins and collectively pooled their money to buy food to donate to the food bank. One 2nd grade class had a charity challenge and performed random acts of kindness for our school community, while the other made up bags for the Cambridge fire victims.
Both the 3rd and 5th graders donated their time to helping out teachers and their classrooms. While the 4th graders collected blankets and towels to take to the Northeast Animal Shelter (please note: They are STILL COLLECTING DONATIONS and there is a box in the Main Lobby near the Family Information Station for donations to be dropped off.) The 4th graders will be dropping off all donations on Feb. 7th & 8th. Some of the other 5th graders will hold a bake sale to raise money for the Cambridge fire victims; and 5th graders in Room E3 designed worry rocks for people to share. The Morse School children truly are a caring community!
