Message from Samantha Headley: April 17, 2026
Dear Morse School Community,
Phew! It has been a busy week at Morse! As we get ready for April break, here are some highlights.

Morse Family Liaison
Today, we bid a fond farewell to Ms. Diaz as she moves into a new position at the district level. Ms. Diaz has been a cornerstone of the Morse community, and while we will miss her presence daily, we are so excited for her as she takes this next step in her career. We look forward to collaborating with her in this new capacity!
We are also thrilled to introduce Nancy Wyse, who officially begins as our new Family Liaison on April 27th. Nancy is a familiar face in CPS with over 14 years of experience as a liaison. She has spent the last several weeks working with Ms. Diaz to ensure a seamless handoff for our families.

A Note from Nancy:
"Hi! My name is Nancy Wyse and I'm excited to join Morse as the Family Liaison. I have spent the last year transitioning KLO students to MLK and King Open, having previously served as the Liaison at KLO for 14 years. I first joined CPSD as a paraprofessional in Special Start when my son was born; he is now graduating from college this May!
Before joining the district, I earned a Master’s in Social Work and worked in adult mental health and juvenile justice. I bring this lens to my work and am deeply passionate about food justice, homelessness diversion, and connecting families to community resources. I am dedicated to supporting our students and families through their elementary years. I can’t wait to continue Amy’s amazing work and get to know all of you!"
School Council - Food FAQ
Our School Council brings families, staff, and community members together to find ways to make our school even better. Everything we do is driven by one goal: the success of our students.
We often get questions about how to bring issues to our attention. Generally, if a concern is specific to your child or a small group, it’s best to speak directly with the administration. However, if an issue impacts the whole school, the Council is the perfect place to discuss it. A great example of this was our recent work on the Food FAQ, which we created after parents raised general questions about breakfast and lunch protocols.
Do you have a suggestion for the greater community? Let us know at Morse-School-Council@cpsd.us.
Morse DPW Day
On Wednesday, April 15th, our Preschool and Kindergarten students participated in the 4th Annual Morse-DPW Day. This event is a culminating activity for the construction, building, and community curriculum units. Children explored tractors, backhoes, front loaders, sweepers, waste removal trucks, and many other vehicles. We sincerely appreciate this collaboration with our Department of Public Works and look forward to continuing the tradition next year!
