Message from Samantha Headley: June 13, 2025

Dear Morse School Community,

As we wrap up the school year, I have a few celebratory events to share and some important reminders for families.  It is my hope that each child ends the school year on a positive note while demonstrating our Morse Core Values of being kind, responsible, inclusive and active learners.

Fifth Grade Hale Trip

Our time with our fifth graders is coming to an end soon and we were so happy to spend the day at Hale Education Center with them yesterday. This is a wonderful extended day trip full of team building activities. Students worked together on challenges in addition to challenging themselves with some high rope activities where they had to persevere and trust their teammates to support them. We enjoyed pizza, a fire pit with s'mores and lots of songs on the bus! We will continue to celebrate our fifth graders with their Celebration of Learning as well as the Moving On and Awards ceremony next week.

Library Books

  • As of today there are 188 books checked out. All library books are due today, Friday, June 13th.

  • If you or a student believe a book(s) have been returned, please let Ms. Pennell know and she will check the shelves.

  • Ms. Pennell will offer a popsicle party to the first homeroom that has all their library books returned.

  • The week of June 16th students will participate in a "Book Grab" during their library time and select a new-to-them book for summer reading.

Morse K-5 Field Day

We will have our annual K-5 Field Day on Tuesday, June 17th. This is an amazing day of community while promoting physical activity. We are grateful to our PE team, Mr. F, Mr. B and Mae for organizing this day for us!  Please remember to provide your child with a full water bottle (no glass containers please), apply sunscreen, and wear sneakers. Morse gear (T-shirt, bandana, etc)  is encouraged but not required.

Girls on the Run

We are happy to share that we will be having a fall Girls on the Run session. It will run from mid-September to mid-November and will culminate with a 5K on November 16th!  If you have a child that identifies as a girl and in September will be in grades 3-5 or if you would like to be a Girls on the Run caregiver facilitator,  please show interest using this form. The official registration will take place closer to the start of the fall session.

Upcoming Events

  • 6/17 | K-5 Field Day

  • 6/18 | 5th Grade Moving on Ceremony

  • 6/19 | No School: Juneteenth

Samantha Headley
