Message from Samantha Headley: September 12, 2025

Dear Morse School Community,

We had our first full week of school and it was a busy one!

Students have been learning routines and procedures in all classroom and school settings. School routines are important as they provide predictability, structure and foster independence. At home, please help your child establish routines that support proper nutrition, exercise, and healthy sleep habits. Together we can promote positive behaviors, responsibility and enhance school engagement.

Live Stream

Each Friday, Ms. Allison and I host our Morse Community Live Stream. It is our weekly opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the amazing accomplishments of our Morse School students and a place to hear diverse voices and perspectives, learn new things, and honor individuals and groups who have made important contributions to our school, our community, and our world.

During this week's live stream, our fifth graders spoke about the Morse Code, giving examples of what each of these core values looks like in action. Our fifth graders introduced Fruit of the Week which takes place every Friday when myself and/or Ms. Allison visits classrooms to hear about educator or peer nominations for 1-2 students in each class who have exhibited the Morse core values of being inclusive, responsible, kind and an active learner.

These two initiatives support students, staff, and caregivers in building a community of trust and belonging as well as a positive school climate.

Friends of Morse School

Friends of the Morse School (FMS) is a volunteer organization of parents, caregivers, friends, and neighbors dedicated to supporting the Morse school - its students, teachers, staff, and community. They organize events, provide volunteers and funding for activities, and fundraise in order to support our goals. Whether supplementing classroom activities and student needs, supporting our teachers, planning community events, or facilitating family communications, they compliment and partner with school administration and the School Council. If you have a student at Morse, then you are a Friend of the Morse School too! Find out more by going to: www.friendsofmorse.org and join the FMS group @friendsofthemorseschool on Facebook and Instagram

Classroom Connectors 2025-2026
Our teachers are tasked with a myriad of responsibilities, but many hands make light work, and that’s where our Classroom Connectors come in – to lend a hand...
...collecting supplies for a fun art project.
...organizing snack donations for a classroom celebration.
...welcoming all families into the Morse School community.

The Friends of Morse Classroom Connectors Program connects caregivers with teachers, with the goal of building a strong community both in and out of the classroom. When families get involved and teachers feel supported, everyone benefits!  Need to know more? Please reach out to Amelia Eichen, FMS Chair of the Classroom Connectors Program ([email protected]).

School Council Elections

The Morse School Council is a diverse representative team of staff members, community members and caregivers who serve in an advisory capacity to improve the school. They play an important role in adopting educational goals and identifying needs to support students in relation to the goals. They review and support the School Improvement Plan and contribute ideas to school based topics as they arise.

Please check out this video to hear from some council caregivers(text translation available in bottom right hand corner). For the 2025-2026 school year, there is one open parent/caregiver seat. If you are interested in being part of this team, we ask that you provide your name, a photo, and a brief statement of interest to our Family Liaison, Amy Diaz ([email protected])Today is the last day to submit your name! The Friends of Morse will manage the election process and families can vote between September 15th - September 22nd.
