Message from Samantha Headley: October 11, 2024

Dear Morse School Community,

It was a busy week at Morse! Our teachers continued to meet for the grade level data retreats to discuss literacy, math, and social emotional learning next steps for their instruction. Our students in grades 1-5 are beginning to wrap up the first unit of our new literacy curriculum, CKLA.

Live Stream

On today's Live Stream, we drummed up some excitement about our Morse Marathon. Some students described the annual event, sharing tips and fun facts. We also watched a video to learn about the significance of Indigenous Peoples' Day which we will observe on Monday. We also shared that for the first time,Cambridge is hosting a sacred Indigenous Peoples' Day event partnered with Chali’naru Dones of the United Confederation of Taino People. There will be cultural exhibitions, traditional music, storytelling, and a vibrant artisan market showcasing Indigenous crafts and foods. This is an opportunity to learn, celebrate, and honor the rich histories and contributions of Indigenous communities.

Morse Marathon

This year’s Morse Marathon (K-5) will take place onTuesday, October 15th (Rain Date 10/17)!TheMorse Marathonis an annual school-wide fun run/walk that takes place at beautiful Magazine Beach Park. The event is aimed at promoting fitness and community. It also helps to raise funds for theFriends of Morse, a parent-led organization that supports enriching learning experiences for our students, along with other important volunteer contributions to our school. To volunteer or sponsor your student athlete, please visit theFMS page. Our CPP Mini-Marathon will take place onThursday, October 24th -more information to come.
