Kicking off Black History Month with CPD Commissioner Elow

Kicking off Black History Month with CPD Commissioner Elow
Posted on 02/02/2023
This month, we will be using our weekly Morse Live Stream broadcast as a platform for highlighting African, African American, and Afro-Caribbean stories, contributions, experiences, and voices. This week’s broadcast will feature an interview with Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow, the first black woman to lead the Cambridge Police Department! Commissioner Elow grew up in Cambridge and attended the Morse School as a child! She returned to her alma mater yesterday to participate in a special interview prepared by some of our amazing 5th graders. If you are looking to bring Black History Month into your home, please check out Reading Rockets’ Celebrating and Learning About Black History and Culture, which offers a great list of resources and suggestions.
