International Night 2019 was a giant party once again with a record turnout this year! We estimated the crowd at 225+ people enjoying the evening. It began with a huge potluck featuring delicious food from around the world. If you brought food please consider sharing your recipe (see below). Students received passports and “traveled” the school to play games, train for the 2020 Olympics soccer team, and create a collaborative Diwali Rangoli craft from India. The evening ended with a wonderful performance by the Pasy Naay Leer Dance Company, who hail from Senegal in West Africa. The drumming was LOUD and the dancing was spectacular!
Did You Bring a Dish to the International Festival & Potluck? Please Share Your Recipes!
The International Flavors Program is a collaboration of The Cambridge Public Health Department and Food and Nutrition Services. This program provides students with an opportunity to taste new dishes from around the world and then vote during cafeteria taste tests; student-approved recipes make it onto the regular lunch menu. The goal is to explore new cultures through food, expand the palettes of Cambridge students and celebrate the diversity that can be found right here in Cambridge.
We love to source our recipes from CPS families, as it allows us to spotlight the home cultures of our own students. Sharing your recipes will help us further our work with students, encouraging healthy eating through a diversity of flavors. We welcome recipes from all countries and cultures, and thank you for helping us make this program a success!
