Message from Chad Leith: March 1, 2019

Dear Morse School Families,

Black History MonthYesterday, we marked the end of Black History Month with a wonderful student assembly in the Morse School auditorium. It was a powerful way to come together as a community to honor and celebrate the contributions of African, African-American, and Afro-Caribbean artists, writers, inventors, scientists, athletes, performers, and leaders. Every child from Kindergarten through Grade 5 contributed something to the ceremony, which included singing performances, readings of letters and poems, multimedia presentations and whole-school renditions of
One Heart, One Hand (our school song) and Lift Every Voice and Sing. I wish to offer my sincerest appreciation to the amazing Morse School staff for engaging our students in meaningful learning experiences related to Black History Month and for giving our children the opportunity to share with one another during yesterday’s ceremony!

Looking ahead, March will be another busy month at the Morse School! We kick things off tonight with our monthly Morse Family Movie Night. This evening’s feature is Ralph Breaks the Internet (pizza and snacks at 5:45PM, followed by movie at 6:15PM - All children must be accompanied by an adult through the entire showing of the movie). Other upcoming community events include our very popular Math & Literacy Carnival on March 14th and our Student Variety Show on March 29th. Ms. Sullivan will be sending home a March calendar with these and other important dates in your child’s backpack. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any other staff member if you have a question, concern or suggestion.

Thank you and my very best wishes for a wonderful weekend!
