Dear Morse School Community,
As we wrap up our school days in 2024, we've taken some time to reflect on the learning and joy from the first four months of the school year.
Live Stream
On today's live stream we enjoyed a year in review with a highlights reel. We also celebrated the retirement of our School Resource Officer, Ozzie Ortiz. Officer Ortiz has been a part of the Morse community for many years and we are grateful for the relationships he has built with our staff, students and families. We wish him luck as he starts this new chapter.
Monday Clubs for Students in Grades 3-5
We had a lot of interest in our Monday Clubs and are happy to share that we were able to include all students who registered before the deadline of December 16th. Clubs will begin on Monday, January 6th and you should have already received a confirmation of your child's club. Please look out for the second round of Monday Clubs which will begin after February break. We will send out sign ups for that towards the beginning of February.
Bright Spot
This morning we got to experience the pure joy of one of our students experiencing snow for the first time. Rodrigo moved here from Honduras and this morning he shared that this was his first time seeing snow. What a beautiful way to close out the calendar year. Hopefully, there's no shoveling in his future!
Personal Cell Phones, Smart Watches & Electronic Devices
Cell phones and smart watches belonging to students must be kept in backpacks and turned off during regular school hours. Morse School staff members reserve the right to take cell phones or smart watches from students who do not turn them off and/or store them in backpacks during the school day. The first time a phone or smart watch is taken, it will be returned to the student at the end of the day. The second time a phone or smart watch is taken, a parent or guardian will be expected to come into school to retrieve it. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced cell phones or smart watches. In an effort to foster an effective learning environment for all children, electronic devices such as tablets and hand-held video games are not allowed in school or on school buses. Such devices will be confiscated and returned to parents with the understanding that they will not be brought to school again. The Morse School is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen electronic equipment.
Upcoming Events
Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday break. For those who celebrate, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year to all.
Sincerely,
Samantha Headley
