Dear Morse School Community,
Happy Friday! It's been another busy week at Morse!
Staff Update
It is with great pleasure that I announce Mary Keegan as our new 4th grade teacher. Ms. Keegan is an alumni of the Morse, she completed her internship here in 3rd grade with Ms. Pizzi, worked as a fifth grade ETS para and then was hired as the fourth grade OSS para. Upon Ms. Gallant's resignation, I asked Ms. Keegan to step in as the ETS lead teacher. She graciously accepted and has been working diligently with Ms. Bishop to launch a successful start to the school year. We are pleased that this transition will be smooth and that Ms. Keegan is now officially our E6 teacher. Please join me in congratulating her on this accomplishment.
Live Stream
This morning we highlighted the pop-up exhibit at the Kendall Center Lobby that celebrates notable Hispanic and Latino contributors to the Cambridge Community. The exhibit is running through to the end of the month and y ou can also peruse a selection of curated titles from Hispanic and Latinx authors at the Kendall Little Library.
In conjunction with our School Improvement Plan literacy goal, we also had students in kindergarten and first grade share vocabulary words they've learned so far this year in math and ELA.
Open House/Curriculum Night
I want to thank all of the staff and families for a successful Open House on Wednesday. I am linking the slidedeck that was presented in case you missed it. We hope you were able to visit and learn about your child's classroom. If you have any other questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. In addition, next week, I will share the Semester I Celebration of Learning date for your child. Each class has one event where families are invited for a showcase of student work. We share the dates at the beginning of each semester so that families are able to plan ahead.
Drum Call
Last Friday's Drum Call was so much fun! But it's not too late to join in. The FINAL West African Dance Workshop at the Morse School for this academic year is Saturday, October 26th. Come join Morse School students, families and staff in the gym for a free dance workshop with live drumming. You can learn the dance movements, enjoy the music, and build and celebrate our community! Doors open at 4PM. Register and learn more at www.drumcallcps.com. This workshop is provided by the Morse School in collaboration with Drum Call and co-sponsored by Friends of the Morse School.
Upcoming Events
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
